Challenge

High-frequency bands that transmit data are becoming increasingly popular, but cannot be effectively measured from the ground. Therefore, to obtain accurate results, these measurements must be made close to the transmitter. Accessing the transmitter by climbing the base station is also difficult and time-consuming, so it was necessary to create a way to get data from the data transmission antennas, saving time and human resources.

Solution

VAS Elektroniskie sakari and a/s SAF Tehnika, in cooperation with LMT, are carrying out a study with the aim of developing a complete radio frequency measurement solution using unmanned aerial vehicles.

As the drone flies around the base station, the artificial intelligence software developed by LMT performs an inventory of the broadcast tower, determining the exact location of the antennas and their transmission direction. After that, the software places the drone in front of the necessary antennas and performs measurements with the spectrum analyzer developed by SAF Tehnika, thus ensuring data acquisition with the lowest possible energy and time consumption.
